Do you have any questions about Kindergarten? "Hmmmmmmm.......no."

Accomplishments (and other things)
Graduated from preschool, can write her whole name, is READING!!!!!, excelled on her Kindergarten preview day, rode her first go kart w/daddy, got a bike (w/trainin wheels) for Christmas, saw Noah's Ark in Branson, went to the circus for the first time, does her calendar all by herself, no more mandatory naps, loves her veggies (broccoli, green beans, asparagus, cucumbers, etc), uses the big girl seat belt in the car w/her car seat, loves to tell knock knock jokes even if they don't make sense, helping ALOT more in the kitchen, and taking showers.

A work in progress
lying (immeditate spanking)
following friends when they make bad choices (praying for this since school is starting in a few months)
wetting the bed (2 times out of the month, not bad)
entertaining herself (set up center time in her room to implement a little "Kylie alone time")
asking for things (she asks for things even if she doesn't really want what she's asking for OR if I've already said no.)
scared of bugs ("I'm scared of stingin' bugs." But she's scared of EVERYTHING....butterflies, flies, ladybugs, ants....)
playing catch (this was the only thing Kylie was under level on during her Kindergarten screening.)
tying shoes/zip up clothes (yikes!!!)

What she is known for
*talking - loves to tell jokes, stories, and people what to do. hahaha. She talks to EVERYONE at the store and all the cashiers know her. She would almost rather talk than eat, depending on what's for dinner.
*being sweet - she loves hugs and kisses, she gives them to everyone and everything (real animals and stuffed animals), when she gets in trouble and feels bad about it, she cries. She prays for her family and friends.
*humor/personality - she seriously cracks us up!!! She is full of life, energy, and joy. She'll retell parts of movies/shows that she thinks are hilarious. Can be a bit of a drama queen at times. If she knows people are watching her, she'll really ham up whatever she is doing.
*pictures - I take pictures all the time while I still can, so much so that Kylie will asked for me to take pictures of real random stuff. "Mom, come take a picture of this tower I built." Fake smile alert!!! She will throw up a fake smile when she feels like being difficult or she will move around like a crazy person or do some weird pose for the picture. haha.

Things I hear alot
"You are the best cook ever."
"I wish daddy didn't have to work."
"Sure looks like a nice day out there." <-----another way to ask, "Can I play outside." hahaha.
"Is it Arthur time yet?" <-----another way to ask, "Can I watch a show?" Ha!
"So what's for dinner?"
"Can you turn the music up?" (In the car.)
"I'm sorry I did that. Can you please forgive me?"
"I love you."

Just taking a MOMent........

♫♪Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear KYLIE, happy birthday to you. And many more!!!!!♪♫

Convo last night before bed:
Kylie - "So when will it be my birthday?"
Me - "Tomorrow. You know that."
Kylie - "But when will I turn 5, like what time?!"
Me - "As soon as you wake up."
Kylie - "Sweeeeet!" hahahaha

(So I guess if I never let her get up from bed, she'll stay 4. teeheehee, boohooohooo. They really shouldn't grow up so fast.) Today we are taking her around town to spoil her (w/freebies, haha) and then tomorrow will be her art party w/a few friends over. Everybody is still in bed right now and I'm secretly crying w/ joy.

Some of you know, but my daughter was born 3 months early (28 weeker) and spent 2 months & 4 days in the hospital getting bigger. :) She was born 1 lb 12 oz and was a little fireball from the beginning. haha. The nurses would snuggle her in the middle of her tiny little bed (that was still bigger than her) and when they would come back to check on her she'd be at the bottom of her bed nestled in the corner. hahaha. They used to joke that she was trying to repel out of there on her wires and cords. :) My daughter has such a fun personality. There is NEVER a dull moment w/her. She loves to laugh, has such a beautiful smile (I despise her fake one but the real one comes w/cute dimples. haha), and she just makes me so proud to be her mom.

We are about to enter a new season of parenting w/a school ager, yikes! haha. I don't know if she'll love school like I did, be a trouble maker like her daddy pops (I pray not!), if she'll be a leader, be a follower, teacher's pet (*ahem* nothing wrong w/that! hahaha, I totally was!), or what.......but I know she is growing up to be a strong woman of God! I made a mission statement as a parent a few months back "I will please the Lord and fulfill His purpose for my life. I will raise up a godly daughter to do the same; for we are Heaven bound." And I pray this everyday.......God has a plan for this girl. I'm so blessed to be a part of her life!

Getting schooled....

Kylie has Kindergarten screening tomorrow afternoon!!!! Eeeeek, I know she's ready but a momma can't help but be nervous especially after this scenario......"Kylie, can you say your ABCs w/out singing???" She looks at me kind of questioningly and then starts mouthing the alphabet. hahahaha. Uh oh, we might be in trouble! ;)

Later Kylie says to me, "I'm scared about tomorrow."
Me - "Why baby girl?!"
Kylie - "What if I mess up???"
Me - "Well that's ok if you do. What do you think you might mess up on?"
Kylie - "What if I hop on two feet, if they say hop on one?"

teeheehee, gotta love the worries of a child.

Coloring outside.....

The other day, I ran across a really fun idea for us to try out: snow coloring!! I let Kylie choose 3 colors to make. You mix water and food coloring in a spray bottle, pretty simple and hours (well minutes in this freezing cold) of fun!
We played out in the snow AGAIN this morning (let the record show that, so I can be done w/snow for the rest of  the day, haha....anywho.) While we were playing and spraying, I heard Kylie say, "Oh look there's some orange snow!!" She said it all excitedly (almost like she was thinkinkg that someone else must have done some snow coloring too). I looked over knowing what I was about to see, *sigh* the dreaded "yellow" snow was already in her bucket. LOL!!! So gross!!!

I've been wrestling w/the idea of getting Kylie's long beautiful hair cut. She had super curly hair when she was a wee one and now that it's grown so long, it's almost straight. It does curly up in the summer humidity though. I'm afraid to get it cut and she not have any of her cute curls at the end of her hair anymore. Kylie almost helped me decide when she was getting a haircut, eeeeek!!! I looked over at her right when she was holding a chunk of hair and grabbing her scissors!!!!! @*#!$ Whew!!! :P

1/18/11

Famous last words....

"I love washing dishes!!! This might be my favorite thing to do! I think I should do the dishes in the morning after breakfast so you don't have to!" Kylie's words. hahaha. I believe I might need to record that and play it back for her, when she gets older and no longer feels that way! (Sorry honey, but when you were 4......)

1/16/11

Kylie rode her bike today, SO cute! She was a pedaling machine, haha. ♥ Makes me kind of sad that she is big enough for a bike though. :( I'm going to leave the training wheels on forever.....that will stop her from growing. ;)

Hoopla

I am SO bummed. :( This morning I walked in to Kylie's room and I stepped on something. I picked it up and it was the back to one of her earrings. :( I looked EVERYWHERE for the earring and couldn't find it. (No thanks to the light that decided to burn out at that very moment, go figure.) It may not seem like a big deal, but these were the earrings she got her ears pierced with, 4 years ago! (I still have my earrings that I got my ears pierced with when I was a baby. And I really wanted to Kylie to have hers too.) Anyway, I wasn't sure what I was going to do because I've never bought her more because I wasn't sure if she was ready for different earrings, I figured if she can't keep her ponytails in then changing out earrings was going to be a waste.

I looked through my earrings and found some little hoops (probably a tad bit bigger than what I would have picked out for her, but they will do for now.) Kylie looked at herself in the mirror and got the biggest smile. :) "I look like a princess!" She does look cute in her hoops!!! (But I'm still bummed.)

Something funny about the hoops:

Kylie - "Why do you call them hoops?"
Me - "Um, well if an ant wanted to hula hoop with it then he could." ???? Where did I come up with that? hahaha
Kylie - "I LOVE my hula hoops!!" Oh geez, hahahaha.

9/3/10

Breakfast conversation............

Kylie - Babies are so cute!
Me - Yeah they are.
Kylie - When are you going to have one?!
Me - I don't know.......I've already had one.
Kylie - When?
Me - YOU! :)
Kylie - (hand to her head) OH YEAH!!!! (giggle, giggle) I forgot.

---------------------------

Kylie has baby fever FOR me. haha. She always pretends to have a sister or brother. Maybe one day......

Leave it or steal it..................

We got a bunch of books at the library and one of them is a Berstein Bear book. I've read it a few times to Kylie, so she pretty much remembers the story. While I was getting breakfast ready this morning, I heard her "reading" it............

"Well, you can leave it or.....steal it." He decided to steal it!

I started chuckling to myself because I knew what part she was reading and what it really said, "You can TAKE it or leave it." He took it.

hahaha, makes me laugh because I know how her little mind works. Take was the first word but she couldn't remember it, so she said the second word and then thought more about what that first word was. Take and steal can mean the same thing so........she went with steal. LOL!

8/10/10

A toilet paper........

Kylie just walked over to me and handed me a piece of paper. "Here read this, it's my diarrhea!"

I couldn't help but chuckle then I asked her if she knew what that was. "Yeah, it's something you write."

I told her that was a diary and then explained what the other was. Her eyes got really big and then we both cracked up.

Um, I don't believe I'll be reading The Diarrhea of Kylie Johnsen any time soon. :P

8/1/10

Lend me your ear......

OK so I am usually up to something and this week it is "obedience training" hahahahaha.

Well......I am working on Kylie's listening skills. She is a sweet girl. Has a great heart. But all those things go out the window for me when she DOESN'T listen!!!! I don't ask too much of her just the norm and as her mother I expect it.

I'm going to try the Listening Ear and see if this will yield me some good results. Any time she does what I ask without her sassy attitued, 1,000 questions, and not being told twice, then she'll put a sticker on her ear.

At the start of a new week, I'll put up a new ear. Not really planning a reward after an "earfull" teehee, but I want that ear in the hallway to serve as a reminder to Obey her parents. At the bottom I have the verse from Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

Should be interesting to see how many stickers this ear will get.

My newest project

I want to show you something.....

This morning I hear, "Mom, come here I WANT to show you something!"

I hestitated to go in. Why??? She was in the bathroom! I've heard this shout before and well you can imagine what was being shown to me. hahaha.

I reluctantly go in the bathroom and Kylie is standing at the sink.

"Look! I don't need the stool! I can reach the soap AND turn on the water without it!"

I smiled at her and told her she's getting SO big. Kylie loves that she's becoming a big girl now. I'm kind of sad about this. (I almost wish she was showing me something else.....almost.)

7/20/10

Time for some change......

Kylie will go to school next year (eeeeek) and with that thought this year needs to be dedicated to doing things like shorter naps (booooo), using words like bathroom or restroom (rather than potty), and letting her have more control over what she wears (even if the shoes she chooses don't match. *gulp*)

Kylie is ALL about shorter naps! Who would have thought?! teehee

Kylie now says, "I need to go to the resting room." hahahaha. Oh well, I've got 12 months to work on that. ;)

Kylie loves wearing her pink or purple crocs with EVERYTHING. (I'm ok with this right now, but mostly because they match alot of her outfits, :D)

Thinking about other changes to work into our routine. Fun, fun!

7/19/10

The other language.....

I'm not really sure if Kylie knows the language SHE speaks is English, but I do know she is VERY aware that there is ONE other language not like hers.....Spanish. :) If she hears a language that she doesn't understand she automatically thinks they are speaking Spanish. Well, I guess the same goes for animals????

Let me explain -

We were watching Curious George and the man with the yellow hat gave something to George. George started making noises and Kylie looks over at me and says all matter-of-factedly, "He just said thank you in Monkey Spanish." hahaha.

Maybe it wouldn't hurt to talk about different languages. ;)

7/18/10

Convo on the way to church.....

Kylie - When I grow up I am going to be on So You Think You Can Dance because I think I can dance!

Me - Awesome baby! And I will watch you boogie down, too! :D

Kylie - Yeah you can watch me on TV! :)

Me - Um, can I watch from the audience?

Kylie - Well....I don't think they will let you.

Me - I think they will. They let family and friends sit out in the chairs so they can cheer really loud. :)

Kylie - (disappointedly) Ok, I guess I could say Hi to you then......

I'm not really sure what just happened....hahahaha. Guess it's not cool if your mom's there. :P

7/15/10

Hands down.....

I had to spank Kylie tonight. :( She usually tries to cover her bottom with her hands, then they end up getting spanked too.

After her spankin' she looked at me and sadly said, "You spanked my hand." I told her if she didn't move her hands, that's exactly what happens. "But if I don't have my hand there, my bottom will hurt!"

hahahaha. Yep! :D

Being punished hurts. I think she's starting to figure that out.

7/13/10

Kiss the cook

After dinner tonight, Kylie came up to me and started pressing her belly on me over and over while making kissing noises. I finally asked her what she was doing.

"Dinner was SO good, my belly wants to give you kisses!"

bahahaha, she cracks me up!!!

*We had Chicken Fajitas.....guess I'll be making those again so I can get more belly kisses!! ;)

7/8/10

I love my MOM!!

The other day I wrote a blog entitled "I miss...." Well my mom wrote one too that made me tear up; it was so sweet! (I hope you don't mind me sharing this Mom, I loved it SO much!!) Here it is:

I miss...
My not hearing Mom when I get up in the morning.
Mom, I love you when I go to bed at night.
Mom, can I have some more of that, that was goood!
Seeing my kiddo's learn something new for the first time.
The laughter when the three of us were together.

I could go on, but I will say to you my daughter ENJOY THE MOMENT!!
This too will pass...then you will see your daughter become a great mom herself, a good wife, responsible person and caring individual.
You will see your daugther delight in her own daughter doing things for the first time.
You will hear laughter from her own grand daughter and know where she got her laughter from.

I love you Ms. Shawna. Have no doubt this comes full circle. You, Adam and Ms. Kylie have a wonderful day. I'll give you a call tonight.

til later,
Your Momma Honey

Needing seconds....

We had tacos for lunch today!  I've been craving them for quite some time now (and yes, you can crave things WITHOUT being pregnant. haha). Kylie likes soft tacos and I like crunchy tacos. I made Kylie two soft tacos and I had a nice big taco salad. More lettuce than chip, it's a start to my healthy eating. ;) Kylie ate her lunch and asked for more.

As her mother I really knew what she was saying......I don't want to take a nap yet SO I'll ask for seconds. teehee

I told her no, but she could have applesauce or salad if she was STILL hungry. She looked at my salad and said, "I would like a salad without tomatoes or leaves just the chips for me!" hahahaha. Uh, nice try kid, nice try. See ya after nap!
