Accomplishments (and other things)
Learned 2 big word challenges and got the charms for them at church, finished Kindergarten w/all pluses, lost 4 teeth, can read more than 100 sight words, goes under the water at the pool, knows the basics of money and time, plays games on the computer like a pro, climbed the tall rock wall at the park and went down the tall pole to get down, sleeps without music, went skating for the first time

A work in progress
lying (she does this to "protect other people's feelings and/or not to be in trouble.)
wetting the bed (few and far between, but still happens. :P)
following friends when they make bad choices (praying for this continually.)
playing catch (not sure this will hinder her in life, in any way, shape, or form. hahaha)
tying shoes (yikes I feel awful that we still haven't worked on this really!!!)
washing hands and brushing teeth (she spends 2 seconds on these things, hellooooo germs!)

What she is known for
*talking - At parent/teacher conferences the words "likes to talk a lot" came up, can't say I'm surprised. I heard those words my WHOLE life.
*being sweet - Kylie's has a sweet spirit. Her teachers at school and church, tell me how sweet she is. She cares about her friends, wants to hold their hands or give them a hug. She loves to share her stuff w/others. She prays in such a genuine sweet way.
*humor/personality -The funniest thing to me about Kylie is she says things so matter-of-factly and they aren't always right! hahaha. Wish I could come up w/a good example, but alas I can not. Stubbornness and hard head!!! Oooooweeeee, this child! Definitely Adam and I's kiddo! Lord help us in the pre-teen and teenage years!!! hahaha, seriously!
*pictures - fake smile, which is so weird w/no teeth! haha. Crazy hip action, half the time she doesn't even want to be facing the camera; it's some weird side angle. The famous eyes being closed. And lastly, the shade hands because the "sun" is in her eyes.

Things I hear alot
"You are the best cooker ever."
"Can I have this recipe when I get older?"
"Will you come play w/me in my room?" - to her daddy pops
"Guess what!" - says this at least 4 times in the same sentence! hahaha
"Hi this is the school nurse calling about Kylie..." - nothing serious but this kid is accident prone!
"Can I turn on the TV?"
"Do you think I could get some computer time?"
"Or whateva'." - say what ev.ER!!! hahaha

The Last Day of Kindergarten....

KYLIE'S LAST DAY

  • It was great!
  • They had Popsicles, cupcakes, and nerds!
  • They had free time since there was nothing else to do!
  • It was a half day!
  • Knows all 20 people in her class.
  • Got a green check mark for good behavior.
  • Had recess one time!
  • No special classes today.
  • They could sit where ever they wanted in class.
  • Walked out of the school, grinning from ear to ear.

MOMMA'S LAST DAY

  •  Dropped my daughter off for her last day of Kindergarten!!!!
  • Sent her in w/2 HUGE boxes of NERDS for the whole Kindergarten.
  • Went for a run and thought about how quickly time goes by (except when you're running.)
  • Did a few things around the house and then realized it was already time to pick her up.
  • Pulled up into the parking lot and barely found a spot.
  • Watched all the parents hold their cameras and tissues.
  • Talked to a mom friend about how Kindergarten went so fast.
  • Saw the 4th graders, I mean, 5th graders come out of the school w/pride.
  • Smiled at the thought of that being Kylie one day.
  • Snapped a picture of my FIRST GRADER running up to me! :D

Prayer time....

Yesterday we talked about making sure to thank God for answered prayers.....she kept praying for Daddy's car and it is fixed now (has been for a little bit now.) hahaha

So tonight Kylie's prayer:
"Dear Lord,
If you could put your hand over daddy's eye and back that they won't hurt him any more.......well it seems like they aren't really bothering him, so if you did heal him already, thank you."

teehee. ♥

Lunch-less....

Had a great lunch w/the K-meister. :) She was surprised to see me, but not as surprised to see NO lunch in her lunch box this morning. hahaha. In the car, she was shaking her lunchbox around and said, "Um I can't hear anything." I tried so hard not to bust out laughing and just said, "Just leave your lunch in there and I'll see you this afternoon when I bring the cupcakes." Well I guess as soon as she got in the classroom she unzipped that lunchbox and told her teacher I forgot to put something in there. bahahahaha. Poor girl! She signed up to get a lunch from the cafe. So she was thrilled to see me waiting for her w/a special lunch and we got to eat outside! ♥

Kylie's teacher made a super sweet DVD of events throughout the school year, so I'm bawling over here!!!! :'( Can't believe Friday is it! Man I cried at the beginning of this journey and now I'm crying at the end, too. hahahaha. *All the songs on here and so touching.* Of course Kylie wants to watch it over and over, gah!!!!! hahaha. Kylie keeps saying, "I miss those days." and "Seems like yesterday." ♥

Wake up call....

IT'S KYLIE'S LAST KINDERGARTEN MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*This may or may not be the way I just woke Kylie up for school just now. hahaha*

5/12/12

Remember those days when you started thinking your parents had you, so they wouldn't have to do chores around the house anymore??? hahaha, um Kylie had one of those days today.
-----
Let's just say, I'm a firm believer in keeping idle hands busy. hahaha. Thanks Kylie, same time tomorrow?! ;) teehee. Nah, I'm sure she'll be on her best behavior, after all it'll be MY day! :P
-----
Oh that reminds me, she brought home some Mother's day crafts from school on Friday. One of which was a flower vase that had flowers in it (I'm talking about paper cut outs.) and on each flower there was something written on it that she would do for me. The little poem on the vase said: Dear Mom, Pick a flower every day and I'll do you a favor....right away! Love Kylie
So I look at what all the flowers say and there's only 4, and there's normal stuff she does like make her bed and pick up her toys and give me a big hug, but then there was one more that said I will take out the trash. Kylie looked over at the trash, that happened to need to be taken out and looked worried. hahaha. "Are you really going to pick that one, Mom?" bahahahaha

A great MOMent....

Just pulled in to Kylie's school and saw her class finishing up recess. She saw me, ran along the fence yelling mommy, waving and grinning. *ahhh* Love being a mom. ♥

Watching cartoons with Kylie:
The cat on TV- I can't help it, I'm a chicken. (Something scared him.)
Kylie- he's not chicken, he's a cat! *pauses* Well what kind of meat is he, ham?

LOL!!!!

4/24/12

SO
Kylie gets out of the car this morning and says, "I'm going to put my stuff in my classroom and then ask my teacher if I can go to the nurse to pull this tooth out." haha Oh goodness.....

THEN
I get a phone call from the school that Kylie thinks she left her lunchbox in the car, but I look in the car and it's not there. I KNOW that girl was carrying her lunch in when I dropped her off.

20MINS LATER
Another call letting me know the lunch has been found after an extensive search for it. hahahaha Oh goodness......

SO
I doubt her teacher sent her to the nurse today for tooth removal. ;)

4/11/12

As a parent, I have a desire to be heard by my child, quite frankly I almost demand it. But in the quiet of my thoughts today I was reminded of the times that Kylie does listen to me and how much more important those times were:

*During our devo story - I got Kylie the Jesus Storybook Bible (which seriously rocks my socks off, I've always heard it would) we were reading The Terrible Lie, and I don't know if it was the dramatic way I was reading it or the story itself, but halfway through that story Kylie was bawling; it brought me to tears and we both cried til the end when we were reminded that God is going to rescue us from our sin. What an awesome moment this morning.
*During our rides in the car - I only listen to Christian music w/Kylie now, and every once in awhile she will ask me how that particular song has to do w/God. She is listening and learning and seeking. ♥

Those listening moments make other things so trivial, yes I STILL want her to listen to me as her parent, but how much more important that she is listening to God and having her spirit stirred w/in her. Thank you Lord for loving my daughter so much!!

4/9/12

Kylie was in her room playing and I heard her say, "Giiiiiirlfriend, puh-leas." hahahahaha.
---------
 Dinner convo w/Kylie:
Kylie - God doesn't have any gravity.
Me - ????
Kylie - Well, if he did then he would be down here w/us! No gravity is how he stays up there!
*good point* teehee

4/7/12

"Mom, I accidentally put too much toilet paper in the toilet......" *rolling my eyes* Oh goody, this should be fun. :P

*For the record, it was NOT fun! We had to call the apt guy out to come help us out. Water was all over the floor. And Kylie earned herself 3 weeks of bathroom cleaning duty! (OK so some of it was GREAT for me, hahaha)

4/4/12

Tooth #2 gone.

Kylie keeps saying, "I look like somebody else, like a Kate." hahaha. And she also keeps saying, "I can't believe it, I look like a first grader now!"

2/24/12

Just writing sight words all by her lonesome..........yep she rocks!

8/23/11

Lunch notes.....

Yesterday on the way home from school Kylie says to me, "Mom, I got your note yesterday at lunch! Thank you so much. That was sweet of you!"

Kylie can read but NOT all the words that were on that note (*Have a great day! We love you Kylie! ♥ Dad and Mom*) so I asked her if a teacher read it to her. "No."

I asked her how she knew what it said. "Oh, I DON'T know what it says."

hahaha, oh sweet girl, I love ya! ♥

My Kindergartener

The first day of Kindergarten....

KYLIE'S FIRST DAY
  • It was good!!!!
  • She knows 4 people in her class (2 boys and 2 girls)
  • She got a green dot on her behavior page (which means she had good behavior)
  • She had recess twice (and of course fell and got a bandaid from the office, haha, it wasn't bad at all like a tiny pin hole....)
  • She didn't have computers or art, she'll have those another day.
  • She accidentally stole a milk from the cafeteria and took her lunch out of her lunch bag to take to the lunchroom (for whatever odd reason) but she did remember to use her hand sanitizer, teehee.
  • She sits closer to the door than the window.
  • They read the kissing hand and did a couple of worksheets (that looked great!)
  • They learned the sight word me and drew a picture of themselves (which WE did at home yesterday AND read the kissing hand, too funny)
  • The principal came in and read a story to them and told them about a way to earn a popcorn party, but she couldn't remember how many times they had to do something to get it.....7, or 5, or 3, or.....hahahaha.
  • Oh and if they help people they get something too, so if someone loses something she should help them find it. ;) (I have know idea what she's talking about, haha)
  • She sharpened her pencils a little bit more today (a highlight of her day, haha)
MOMMA'S FIRST DAY
  • I cried on the way there.
  • I walked Kylie in the school and told her have a good day.
  • Left my baby girl at Elementary school.
  • Got stuck in the parking lot and had to drive around in circles.
  • Bawled like a baby when I got out of the parking lot.
  • Received a sweet treat from my Best Friend, for lunch!
  • Hung out w/my friend (who just left her baby at school too)
  • Went home and cried for a few minutes.
  • Stared at the clock for the last hour of school.
  • Waited in a CRAZY pick up line!!!!
  • Heard all about Kylie's day (see above)
  • Beamed w/pride when I looked at her worksheets and behavior page.
  • Played games and listened to more stories about school w/out any interruptions.
  • Praised the Lord for my growing baby!

Lunchtime mishaps.....

Conversation on the way home from school:

Kylie - Mom, can I get my drink out of my lunch bag, I didn't have it today because I left it in the classroom at lunch.
Me - Huh???? You had lunch right?!
Kylie - Well yeah, I just took my lunch out and left the bag in my cubby.
Me - Why baby? You just need to carry the whole bag to the lunchroom.
(Kylie looks at me like I'm crazy and I explain to her that today she had a lunchable, but other days it will be hard to carry her little bags of everything and should just keep it in her lunchbag. She reluctantly agreed and secretly was wondering why I was so confused by her. haha)

*sidenote - she didn't get my special note because she did that. Bummer!*
*sidenote to sidenote - she informed me that it was ok though, because she had her kissing hand. ;) *

Back to the convo:

Kylie - "It's ok though, because I got a drink from the school.
Me - Huh??? What did you have? (Thinking water...)
Kylie - I got a milk.
Me - Did you talk to your teacher before you got one?
Kylie - Oh no, I just got up and got one.
Me - Uh, don't do that, you have to PAY for those baby girl!!

Oh geez!!! Tomorrow is round 2 and she will be bringing some milk money to pay for that! Whoops!!!

Poem from Orientation.....

The first day of school!
Unknown Author

I used to be little, but not any more.
Tomorrow I'll get up and walk out the door.
I'm going to school--it's time for me.
It's great to be big, but I'm scared as can be.

My tummy's in knots. Do you want to know why?
I'm thinking that maybe, just maybe, I'll cry.
When Dad leaves the school and I'm there all alone,
I'm thinking that maybe, I'll want to go back home.

BUT WAIT--Mommy said I'll play lots of new games,
and meet lots of friends--I can learn all their names.
The first day of school, oh there's so much to do!
There's painting and books and a big playground too!

I used to be little, but not any more.
Tomorrow I'll get up and walk out the door.
I'm going to school--it's my first day, you see.
IT'S GREAT TO BE BIG!
I'M GLAD TO BE ME!
