I got SEVERAL PreK workbooks a few months back and we have been doing 2 pages out of a few every day. Practice cutting, tracing letters, beginning sounds, same/different, big/small, counting, where things belong, etc. Kylie has already finished 3 books! She rocks! Anyway, I decided she had done quite a bit of worksheets with me, that she would be ready to have an activity workbook to work on at her leisure. "Independently." (Meaning, she won't just treat it as a coloring book and actually do what it tells her! I get excited about any sort of obedience I can get these days. hahaha.)
I went to her closet and pulled down her very own activity book. When Kylie saw this HUGE workbook, her eyes got just as big with excitement. Makes the teacher in me smile. :)
Last night, Kylie did mazes for at least an hour! There are 320 pages of dot to dots, mazes, find the hidden pictures, tracing, and coloring pages; however, Kylie only had interest in the maze pages. She loves them! Who knew this is all it would take to simmer this little girl down?! HA!
Kylie is such a little story teller and a picture with a beginning, middle, and end was enough for her to get those story juices flowing! ;)
Kylie - "OK, tell me what I need to do for this one." or "Oh no, what is happening here?!" and my favorite "I'm going to save the day!" LOL!
She had a story for each maze; it's almost like she felt each characters plight. ;) Whether the momma bird needed help back to the nest of baby birds, or an ant was trying to dig its way to a picnic basket, Kylie knew she was the girl for the job. hahahaha.
"I'm going to help this little boy find his way home, momma!" After she made her way through, "Now he can go home and have dinner like we did!" Love her! :D
There is something refreshing about genuine aMAZEment!
