This morning I had to tell Kylie that her first pet (Montey the fish) had died last night. I was worried about how she would react, but I should have been worried about how I was going to react..............we have both been crying this morning. (I guess daddy should have been the one to break the news to her. I probably wasn't helping the situation. haha.)
When she got up this morning, I told her I had some sad news about Montey (and I basically started tearing up right then!) We sat in her bed and talked about Montey; how much we loved him and how happy he was with us. Talked about feeding him, cleaning out his bowl, and watching him swim around like a crazy man. :)
Kylie asked to see him one last time (it was so sweet) however, Adam flushed him last night!!! (I told him we should have waited, but it was too late.) When I told her, Montey was already gone (I didn't say daddy flushed him down the toilet.) she cried some more. Oh gosh, I felt so bad. :(
Montey Memories -
*This past Christmas, we went on the search for a tiny Christmas tree to put in his fishbowl and found one. :)
*One day I was doing something in the living room and saw three toothpicks floating around in the fishbowl. I immediately asked Kylie why. "I wanted to feed him," she tells me. Poor Montey, I have no idea what really happened with those toothpicks, but I do know he didn't eat them. hahaha.
*EVERY morning, Kylie would run into the livingroom and say good morning to Montey and wave to him. :) It was so cute.
*EVERY time we left the house, Kylie would say bye to Montey and tell him not to splash. hehehehe. (When we were crying on the bed this morning we talked about how we bet he splashed when we were gone sometimes; we bothed chuckled.)
*EVERY night, Kylie said good night to Montey. Oh and of course told him to sleep tight. :)
We have both stopped crying now (because I said, "Montey would want that" - I don't know what to tell her to stop crying, hahaha) and watching some PBS shows to take our minds off things. I'm sure Kylie will talk about him randomly throughout the day (week/months), but I think we have made it passed our first Johnsen pet dying. :(
(I just hope daddy doesn't say anything else that will trigger the tears when he gets up. Fingers crossed.)

That makes ME want to cry!! So precious!!! She was def more attached than Aurora was to her fish. Aurora's fish didn't have a name.. ha ha That is so precious that you told her Monty wouldn't want you guys to cry. I will pray for you guys today!
Awwww, it does?! :) haha, you are so sweet Megan. Yea, she attaches to things pretty quick. I wasn't sure if I should tell her that or not, but I did. I really had no clue what to tell her. I was just fishing for anything that may help her feel better, hehehe.
